Team Goals
The purpose of the Oakleaf Swim Team is to help children learn how to swim competitively, have fun, provide a positive outlet for their energy during the summer school recess, and have families develop stronger relationships and sense of community.
Although the Oakleaf Orcas competes with other swim teams, we focus on individual time improvements and less on placements in a meet. We believe that swimming is an important life skill which the kids will enjoy for many years to come.

Eligibility
Children ages 5-18 are eligible once they pass a swimming test. Since most children come to us knowing only freestyle, we will spend a lot of time teaching the basics of backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Throughout the season, the coaching staff focuses on stroke development, stroke technique, and endurance.
Time Commitments
Parents – To keep the cost of the program as low as possible, we expect parents to volunteer at a minimum of two swim meets so the coaches can focus on coaching rather than administration, otherwise the fee for the program would be nearly double. This is a wonderful opportunity to build into your children and let them know that you are excited about their activities.
Swimmers – To be respectful, punctual to practice and meets, do your best and have fun! We offer 5 practices per week, but we strongly suggest attending at least 3 of them weekly (all of them is fine too). A swimmer is also expected to take part in at least 3 Swim Meets during the season. Swimming is a team sport thus the need for the swimmers to attend the majority of meets.
