Oakleaf Swim Club​

Oakleaf Swim Club proudly represents the Oakleaf Community in the Planet Swim / First Coast Summer Swim League. Swimmers ages 5-18 can participate in our club and league events. Please see our Registration page for more info on how to join. 
The goal of Oakleaf Orcas is to teach fundamental techniques of the four competitive swim strokes, foster competitive spirit and teamwork, and develop the coaching skills of our volunteer coaches.  ​

THE COACHES

Head Coach
Jack Powers-Young

Coach Jack has over 40 years of experience in swim programs. He started competitive swim while he was in grade school in New York and continued until college. His children continued the family legacy with their entry into the local swim club. While Jack volunteered for his children's swim club he also continued to swim in US Masters swim events. Jack's expertise was quickly recognized and he was brought on as an assistant coach. He continued to serve as assistance coach on two other swim teams over eight years before he was asked to become the head coach of Oakleaf Orcas Swim club and Oakleaf High School in 2021.​

Assistant Coach
​Olivia Votava

Coach Olivia started swimming summer league in Clay County when she was nine. She soon developed a passion for swim and wanted a greater challenge. At twelve she joined the Episcopal Amberjax club team and stayed until she graduated high school. Oliva also swam for Oakleaf High School where she set two school records in 500 Freestyle and 400 Freestyle Relay and went to State Championships. Upon graduation from Oakleaf High, Olivia earned a spot on the Florida State University swim team. She is a trained lifeguard and has been an Orcas assistant coach since 2023.

Assistant Coach
​Lindsay Shelton

Coach Lindsay started swimming as a child in Clay County and participated in summer swim league. She is certified by the American Red Cross as a Water Safety Instructor and became a lifeguard in 2004. She has taught swim lessons for 20 years though YMCA, JCA, Oakleaf Swim, and private lessons. Lindsay was an Orcas parent volunteer for two years and joined as an Assistant Coach in 2024.
