Congrats to the 2024 PSFCCSL Champions Oakleaf Orcas!
It was an amazing season with many new records and personal bests. It was truly amazing to see everyone's progress this summer and we look forward to continued growth of our swimmers. Stay tuned for announcements for our new year-round swim program.

Another win for the Orcas despite a few obstacles. When it comes down to it, an athlete can only be held responsible for the things they can control, their attitude and their effort. Certainly there were things we could not control yesterday, such as the heat, the weather that precipitated an early finish, last minute call outs and no shows, and some chaos as a result of unfamiliarity with both the venue and our ready bench system.
There are no doubt some inaccuracies on the results sheet but overall, everyone did an amazing job. After some discussion amongst the PSA staff and the league administration, we came up with some action plans for the championships.
The ready bench is always a difficult area to navigate. I know that the PSA teams have traditionally not used a ready bench in the past, so that makes it a little bit more complicated.
The league bylaws talk about how the ready bench is supposed to be set up and staffed at regular season meets. The bylaws are on the google drive for each coach to review. (it will be a little rough because of the merger this year).
For champs, we have volunteers and a plan in place for the ready bench. I think we can take a combination of our traditional plans to make it run very smoothly.
We also have seen the importance of volunteers but how much more important they will be for a championship meet. We will be releasing our responsibilities for volunteers in the following week.
There are only 3 days of practice coming up before the Independence Day break, then we return to prepare for the final regular season meet on July 13th. Please input the entries by Monday July 8th, and please be accurate. Also, be cognizant of how much effort (and stress) goes into making last minute changes. One of my mentors used to say,
"What I lack in will, I will make up in skill; what I lack in aptitude, I will make up in attitude!" Joe Lewis 1944-2012.
PS. it doesn't show up on the heat sheet due to technical difficulties but Teagan Brown (8) did an exhibition 50 yd. backstroke right after winning the 7-8 25yd backstroke in 51.78, a time that would have won that age group as well. Shout out!
