We just updated the calendar on the website at www.oakleafswimteam.org (which is also available through Google Calendar) with the upcoming dates for the 2012 season.  As soon as we have the 2012 registration forms we will post them online.

Hope to see you at the March 17th Open House from 10a-12p to register and get your child fitted for their swimsuit.

What a great job the kids did today!  Coach Sean and I were loaded down with awards to give out tomorrow at the banquet.  We are so proud of our swimmers!

The banquet will be from 6:00-8:00 tomorrow at Oakleaf Jr. High Cafeteria.  Dress is from casual to snappy casual.

We’ve put together a great slideshow of the swimmers and families that I know you’ll love.

Emails have been sent out with the tomorrow's heat sheets and entries listing.  If for some reason the internet-gremlins kept you from getting yours, go to the Forms page on our website and you'll find them there!

See you at Bolles High School tomorrow morning!

As some of you might have heard, Coach Kate's computer hard drive has completely crashed along with it her email lists so this is how we will be communicating with everyone about Championships until we can (please God) get the data pulled off her old drive!

Saturday: Championships warm-ups will be as follows:
            IM and Free Relay    7:15am
            Everyone else           7:45am

Subscribe via Twitter, Facebook and/or click the RSS Feed to subcribe via Internet Explorer so you won't have to come to this page to see each update.

Orcas:

Great job yesterday!  We’re so proud of our Orcas for swimming so well against such a monstrous team as EH.  Our swimmers had
some outstanding performances. J  Parents – fabulous job getting the meet finished in just over 3 hours.  I think our meet at Eagle Harbor last year lasted around 4 ½ hours.  Everyone should give themselves a well-deserved pat on the back for a job well done!

Pictures - If you still want Lisa to take your child(ren)’s individual picture, she will be available to do that this Tuesday, from 5:00-6:00.  This will be the last opportunity for pictures.

Banquet - I’d also like to remind you that the banquet will be held at the Oakleaf Jr. High School Cafeteria on July 24 from
6:00-8:00.
More details will be forthcoming in the next week or so.

Championship meet July 23 at Bolles – Please begin talking to your child about what he or she would like to swim at champs.  At this time, pick 3 individual events.  Depending on the number of swimmers in the age group, some kids may be asked to swim 2 relays.  Unfortunately, we are limited to 1 or 2 relays per age group, so there won’t be enough spaces for every swimmer to be in a relay.  This holds especially true in the 11-12 girls age group.  As soon as I find out from the league if we can have both an “A” and a “B” relay, we will get those figured out.  The swimmers’ times will be used to figure out who gets the spots.

Please let me know if you have any questions about anything mentioned above.

Thanks for all of your  help!

Volunteering 06/21/2011

We’d like to get the ball rolling on planning the banquet.  A few people have asked what they can do to help the team, but they might be by themselves at the meets with small children in tow.  This is for you!  Please let Coach Kate know if
you would like to help plan the banquet.
Much of it could be done at home.  If we got a small group together to meet this week or next week, we would have plenty of time to organize it stress-free.

Please keep in mind that we’ve planned for each family to help at least 5 sessions during the season.  With a team this large, no one family should have to bear much of the load themselves.   Also, teenagers who would like to earn volunteer hours are more than welcome to help!  Here's the link to sing up to volunteer:  link
Thanks!!

Our season is rolling along quickly, so we’re going to schedule team pictures for the next 2 weeks.  Since it would take too much time to  get each swimmer’s individual picture at the same time, we’re going to divide  them up into 2 groups.  We’re hoping that this scenario will work out for everyone.

Lisa Feliciano has generously offered to handle this undertaking and will be donating ALL profit back to our swim team to purchase equipment, awards, and the rental for the banquet venue.   By keeping the prices low, this should be a win-win for everyone.

If you would like to capture your child’s involvement in the swim team this year, please show up at the times listed below.  The order form is attached, and we wanted to get the schedule out to you ASAP.

Thursday, June 23 – Individual pictures for swimmers with the last name from A-L
     11 and over  - 5:00
     10 and under – 6:30

Tuesday, June 28  – Individual pictures for swimmers with the last name from M-Z
    11 and over  - 5:00
    10 and under – 6:30

Thursday,  June 30 – Team picture before meet – 4:00 Don’t be late!
We’d like to have everyone included.

 Tuesday, July 5  – Individual make-ups  5:30-6:30

If your family consists of children who attend both practice times, please reply if you would like BOTH of them to take their “individual” picture together and we will find a time that works.  We’re trying to minimize the amount of time you and your children will need to wait to have their picture taken.

Just a reminder that our morning (M W F) practices start this Friday 10 June at 7:30a.  Make sure to check the Calendar to know when your age group will be practicing.  Also our first meet is this Saturday at Pace Island (directions are also on the Calendar event) and you can print your own copy of the Heat Sheet off from the Forms page.

Lastly, Parents, don't forget to fill in any empty spaces we are required to fill at both Home and Away swim meets by clicking on the Swim Team Volunteer Sign-ups on the Calendar page. Spots that aren't filled in by Thursday night will be "volunteered," so we appreciate your taking initiative! Thanks!!

It's sad but true that we are no longer taking registrations for the 2011 season as of last Friday.  The great news is that our team is now just over 100 strong (almost 50% growth over last year) and we have added another Assistant Coach to help Coach Kate. We're looking forward to another great season! See you poolside.

If you have not yet had your child sized for their team swim suit, you will need to do so ASAP as the order is about to be placed. Sizings take place at the Acquatics offices located at the Plantation Oaks Amenity Center, Monday thru Friday 9a-5p (except for this Tuesday which will be 9a-4p). Please email Becky Eddy at admin@oakleafresidents.com with any questions.
